United Acquisition Services

Description of effort – NetGain Design added dynamic database functionality to let customers search a client’s entire inventory.

Problem – United Acquisition Services (UAS), a cutting-edge broker of cell tower sites, needed to give potential customers the ability to easily consult their available sites.  At the time, customers could only call during business hours and information was looked up in multiple large binders.  Sometimes customers would have an address to search near.  Other times they would have latitude and longitude coordinates and a given mile radius.  Results could sometimes take as long as a day to convey.  UAS’s management knew that they wanted to put their site inventory online, but getting from the paper binders to the web was daunting.

Solution –
Before the first web page was created, NetGain made sure UAS’s needs were well understood.  Then they both planned a transition from a manual, paper-based system to a computer database.  Once the process of standardizing the data was compete, NetGain set out to create a web site that promoted UAS’s offerings and craft an easy search mechanism for the database.  Not only was there a need to search, but detailed information about each tower site had to be clearly presented for quick scanning.  With the web application, customers could see the entire offering without any additional effort on UAS’s part.

Benefit – UAS’s customers have appreciated the superior service.  In addition UAS’s image is put o
n par with much larger rivals.  They even leverage the database for other business applications such as geographic mapping.  Next NetGain will work with UAS to provide customized extranet capabilities for customers to help manage the brokering process.
